Information DesignIf you are planning to produce any document for distribution outside WBS, eg a brochure, a poster, or an application form, then the Information Design team will be pleased to help you.
We can advise you from the outset of commissioning, to make sure that you produce documents that work best for you, and send the right message about WBS to your readers. The sooner you contact us, the more effective and useful we can be.
What do we offer?
For all WBS stakeholders, we will give advice freely, provide central marketing support, design group web site templates, and manage print commissioning to get the best value from printing.
We will design print materials for WBS central service teams, and for all teaching programmes and subject groups, free of charge. This is subject to adequate notice being provided, and existing workload permitting.
For self-financing research groups, we will design for print only at our discretion. However, there is no charge for advice on meeting house style, helping you brief designers to get the best results, or for managing print.
We will need at least three weeks notice for any work, to allow time for both design and printing, and eight weeks to guarantee that design will be free of charge. We have substantial design jobs scheduled year-round, so we would appreciate as much notice as possible, even for small jobs. If our scheduled workload means we cannot meet your requested deadline, there may be a cost attached to outsourcing, so it is in your interests to give us early warning, even if you are unable to provide complete details.
Depending upon your needs, we will either complete the work in-house, or pass the project on to the most suitable external designer. If this happens then we can manage the project for you, handling the day-to-day running, but keeping you involved in the important decisions.
Since we manage the WBS image library, we can help you to select images to use in your publication. We may even be able to save you money in printing.
We also develop tools to help you print branded materials without worry about typefaces, formatting or positioning.
