The Dean of WBS, Professor Andy Lockett has been at the forefront of the school's mission to produce world-class, cutting edge research. His work on strategy and entrepreneurship has given him a worldwide reputation, with leading technology executives voting him one of the world's top 100 professors in the field, while he was also identified as one of the top 50 Technology Innovation Management scholars in the world.

After gaining his PhD from the University of Nottingham, following a BA in Economics and MSc in Marketing from the University of Manchester, in 2011 Andy was awarded a Higher Doctorate, a form of 'lifetime achievement award', for original and sustained contribution to scholarship at the very highest international level.

His excellence in scholarship is complimented by a passion for teaching that has seen him build a superb relationship with students, from undergraduates to MBAs, winning him several awards thanks to his innovative approach.

Andy has been a Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at WBS since 2010, undertaking a number of administrative posts before being appointed Dean, including the Head of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Group, Associate Dean, Pro Dean, becoming Deputy Dean of the school in 2014 with specific responsibility for the school's research, engagement and impact strategy.

His commitment to engaged scholarship is evidenced by active participation in both academic and practice communities, He is an active member of leading journal editorial boards including: the Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, British Journal of Management and Journal of Technology Transfer. In addition, his work involves him working in partnership with organisations across the private, public and third sectors.
