Professor Fluffy shows children the way to University
Students from Moat House and Henley Green Primary Schools took part in a 'graduation' held at Grace Academy. Professor Mumby-Croft, Director of the Enterprise Hub acted as the 'Chancellor' and handed out scrolls of recognition to all participating students.
The Professor Fluffy project is designed to inform primary school children about the education options available to them and to help with decisions about their future. Some children have already closed down their options in relations to Higher Education by the time they have reached secondary school.
Students from Grace Academy, Coventry and from Warwick University have been acting as mentors, running workshops and hosting visits to the University campus.
Angie Pagett, Deputy Head of Henley Green Primary School commented, "The Henley Green children have been thoroughly engaged in the Professor Fluffy project. They particularly enjoyed their visit to Warwick University. Before the visit, they didn't really have an understanding of what University was like, afterwards many of the children were talking about wanting to go to university and how exciting that would be, even talking about the courses that they would like to do. They understand what this means for them at secondary school and meeting with Grace Academy pupils put this into context for them. A well thought out and accessible project which has led to our pupils becoming more aspirational about their futures."
