Demand Side Management

The discussion on the transition to a low carbon economy is often focused on technological challenges and supply side considerations. However the ability to achieve emission reductions and increased levels of generation from renewable sources will also depend on the successful implementation of demand side management measures.

  • How will consumers' attitudes and behaviour affect the implementation of demand side management?
  • How can regulatory and commercial arrangements support efficient market-wide use of demand-side response?
  • What can we learn from existing experiences of demand response?
  • Is there an interaction between demand response and demand reduction?
  • Is the observed behaviour consistent across different countries?

This seminar will explore how companies, regulators and policy makers are attempting to address these issues.

The seminar will be co-chaired by:
David Elmes, Academic Director, The Global Energy MBA, Warwick Business School
Monica Giulietti, Associate Professor in Global Energy, Warwick Business School
