Defining the value of digital health solutions: an innovator's check list

Digital Health is an umbrella term that refers to the increasing emergence of the combination of technologies, data, and services designed for improving the quality of care, making health care more accessible to patients, and bringing efficiencies to the health system with the aim of reducing costs.

Based on research by Boston Healthcare Associates, this event aims to examine innovations in the US digital health arena through the lens of digital health solutions offered to key stakeholders—Patients / Consumers, Providers, and Payers / Employers.   For each of these stakeholders, the unmet need that is driving the demand for digital health solutions, as well the solutions themselves—select digital health players and their value propositions – are examined. We categorize solutions based on their value proposition- Patient/Consumer-centric, Provider-centric, or Payer/Employer-centric.

Based on analysis, of recent case studies, Sotiris Rompas, Director at Boston Healthcare Associates presents a set of questions that innovators must consider in bringing a digital health solution to the US market. While every digital health solution is different, these foundational considerations ensure that the offering will address the priorities and unmet needs of the Patients / Consumers, Providers, and Payers / Employers segments. The checklist also encourages taking a "360 degree view" of the ecosystem in which the solution will play—an essential element in capturing full value in digital health.
