Professor John Benington, Academic Director

The Warwick Diploma in Public Leadership & Management provides managers and executives in the public and third sectors with clear perspectives on the dilemmas of leadership, management, and modern organisations.

The programme is suitable for managers from across the public and voluntary sectors, for example: national, regional, and local government, health, police, fire service, and third sector. Our goal, and yours, is to contribute to innovation and improvement in the quality of public service, and improved experiences for users and other stakeholders.

The study programme runs over a period of 18 months on a part-time modular basis. You will study six 3-day residential modules, each being assessed by a 3,000 word essay. You will also write an 8,000 word dissertation and complete a Personal Learning Portfolio.

To join the programme, you should hold an undergraduate degree, and have three years middle to senior management experience. In exceptional cases, substantial work experience may be considered as an alternative to the degree.

Application for the 45 places are accepted all year round, but by 30 April 2009 for June 2009 intake at the latest. Applications received after this date will be considered but may be deferred to a later intake.

The provisional course fee for June 2010 entry is £6,800. It includes: essential textbooks, registration, induction, tuition, web-based support, study materials, project supervision, and access to the full range of campus facilities. Meals and accommodation are provided on campus at an additional cost of approximately £250 for each module. There is also an application fee of £50.
