Biography
John is a recognised expert in the management and adoption of intranets in organisation. His research reflects his long-term and close involvement with the development of intranets in several large organisations both in the UK and abroad through his role as Associate of the Intranet Benchmarking Forum and co-author of its benchmarking model. John's research explores the interplay between technology and its organisational context of use. It often takes a longitudinal approach and uses concepts from institutional theory to understand the process and effects of embedding technology in routines and behaviour of individuals, groups and organisations in general. Prior to his PhD at the London School of Economics in 2001, John worked 6 years in high profile roles in the industry such as Director of New Technologies for the Conservative Party in the UK, as IT Project Manager in a bank and ticketing project manager for World Expo 98.
