Nicola Burgess

Biography
Nicola has 10 years of research experience across a broad range of projects from enhancing competitiveness of SMEs in regeneration areas to 'fast fashion' and supply chain management, Lean implementation in Healthcare and the knowledge brokering role of the middle level manager in relation to patients safety in healthcare. Nicola has also taught a broad range of topics as a member of the Operations Management Group at WBS and has focussed teaching Lean to MBA cohorts over the last 3 years. Nicola has recently completed work on the Strategic Lean Implementation Methodology project, a cross disciplinary project that seeks to evaluate the impact of Lean in healthcare and the potential for incorporating modelling and simulation techniques alongside Lean. Currently Nicola is the Research Fellow for an NIHR SDO funded project: The knowledge brokering role of middle level managers (MLMs) in service innovation: Managing the translation gap in patient safety for elderly care.
Research interests
Main research interests include Lean implementation in healthcare, the management of change and the management/mobilisation of knowledge.
