DiMAP Seminar

The Centre for Discrete Mathematics and its Applications (DiMAP) was established in March 2007 by the University of Warwick, partially funded by an EPSRC Science and Innovation Award EP/D063191/1 of £3.8 million. The Centre builds on a collaboration among:

Department of Computer Science,
Warwick Mathematics Institute, and
Operational Research and Management Sciences Group in the Warwick Business School.


The DiMAP Centre is co-located in the adjacent new Computer Science and Mathematics buildings and it is directed by an Executive Team led by Prof. Artur Czumaj. DiMAP seminars share cutting-edge, international mathematical research into discrete modelling, algorithms, optimisation, and their application.

Analysing the Performance of Greedy Maximal Scheduling via Local Pooling and Graph Theory

Efficient operation of wireless networks and switches requires using simple (and in some cases distributed) scheduling algorithms. In general, simple greedy algorithms (known as Greedy Maximal Scheduling - GMS) are guaranteed to achieve only a fraction of the maximum possible throughput (e.g., 50% throughput in switches).
