Lanner Group prizewinnersProcess simulation modelling software supplier the Lanner Group has for several years awarded prizes to WBS students for their excellent work in the Analytic Consulting module. This year was no exception for students of the MSc Business Analytics & Consulting (MSBAC) course.

The module was delivered as a consulting project based around modelling the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from passenger cars in the UK. The students needed to collect and manage various data sets and establish viable models regarding the relationship between CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, and the relationship between official fuel consumption figures and alternative figures reflecting on-the-road fuel consumption.

Geoff Hook, Projects Director of the Lanner Group and a member of the WBS Course Advisory Board, presented cheque prizes to the winning group: Ruzanna Arzumanyan, Ling Du, Jonathan Ho, Mengyuan Jin, Fernanda Salomon, Abhishek Singh, and Petr Vaclav.

Course director Dr Mette Asmild commented, "We are very grateful to the Lanner Group for their support for our students. The winning group's report was an excellent piece of work that was attractively presented and readable ... It had a very clear presentation of results and a good critique of categories and age effect. The slides, clarity and professionalism were all of a Distinction standard."
