Extra-curricular successes for WBS undergraduates

Some of the WBS winnersNo less than 23 WBS undergraduate students have won awards in this year's University of Warwick Advantage Awards out of a total of 163 awarded. The Warwick Advantage Awards are the result of a unique collaboration between the Centre for Student Development and the Students' Union, with event sponsorship from IBM and Deloitte.

The awards are given to recognise and reward the time and effort that students put into societies, sports clubs, campaigns, committees, volunteering, events, work experience and everything else that isn't a degree requirement. The Global Awards additionally recognise students' development of their global capabilities through interaction with people from different nationalities and cultures. Winners were presented with prizes at an awards ceremony on campus attended by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Ann Caesar.

Gold Global winners were:

Professor Peter Corvi, Associate Dean (WBS Undergraduate Programme) commented, "We are delighted to have so many WBS students win these awards, which help students to develop valuable skills for their work and life after Warwick. The awards reflect both the high quality and the enthusiasm of our students to make the most of the opportunities they have while studying here at Warwick to share their skills and knowledge, not only in the classroom but also in the wider society."

British Council's Shine! 2011 Awards

Divesh Hiranandani, far leftThis annual competition for International Student of the Year is run in UK universities by the British Council to highlight the huge contributions made by students from overseas to both higher education and the wider UK. Entrants have to submit a report of their achievements and contributions while at university.

At a recent glamorous award ceremony in London, the 12 regional winners and overall winner were announced from an incredible 1,300 entries. Divesh Hiranandani from India, taking BSc Maths & Business Studies was the West Midlands winner, with Economics student Evan Watts runner-up.
