WBS students shine
14 December 2011
Student competitions and awards provide great opportunities for talented and entrepreneurial students - from undergraduates through to MBAs - to develop and air their skills and to gain well-deserved recognition among their peers and in the corporate world.
Below we report on recent WBS successes.
Antonia Koop, who studied full-time for her Warwick MBA, was short-listed for the MBA Star award for Women of the Future Awards. These awards were created to unearth and recognise the stars of tomorrow across diverse industries, to celebrate high achieving women aged 35 and under, inspirational in their professions.
Antonia is international coordinator/CEO for PECOJON, an online network for support and training across 15 countries for journalists, photographers and other professionals reporting on conflict, crisis and war.
Two national undergraduate student competitions have recently concluded, and WBS undergraduates shone in both.

The Edinburgh Business Weekend involves ten teams selected from among the top UK universities to participate in a business challenge on the theme of investments and energy. Held at Heriot-Watt University, sponsors included BP and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland. The competition took place over a weekend of research, presentations, and networking events.
The Warwick team, all in their third year BSc Management, comprised Philip Bradonjic, Nicola Palotta, Justin Ho Wei Zhong and Yury Trofimov. They were awarded second place for their outstanding research into the energy challenges in India.
The Universities Brightest Brain competition concluded last week with a final for the 60 top candidates out of 4,000 who entered. Although WBS students were not listed in the Final's Top 3, eight of the qualifying top 60 were from Warwick:
- Jason Phan (1st year BSc Accounting & Finance)
- Wan Zhang (1st year BSc Accounting & Finance)
- Sie Jie Looi (1st year BSc Management)
- Ayush Jain (1st year BSc Accounting & Finance)
- Kirsty Smith (4th year BSc International Management)
- David Ramsey (3rd year BA Law & Business Studies)
- Victor Vas (3rd year BSc Management)
- Yeow Boon (Kelvin) Tan (1st year BSc Management).
Congratulations to all!
