16 March 2011

Team members Georgy, Will, Winnie, Parth and SteveHult International Business School, based in Boston, USA runs the annual Hult Global Case Challenge for business school students, with the initial rounds held across 5 global locations - Shanghai, Dubai, London, Boston and San Francisco.

This year the organisers had partnered with Water.org, dedicated to providing safe drinking water and sanitation to people in developing countries. The theme for the Case Challenge was to develop innovative solutions to provide water access to 100 million people in five years, with a $1million prize for the winning team to implement their plan in partnership with sponsors Clinton Global Initiative and Water.org itself.

The WBS team was represented by five full-time MBA students, team leader Will Skillman (USA), Georgy Berezhnov (Russia), Parth Kanetkar (India), Steve Tan (Singapore) and Winnie Mak (China). The team competed with 30 other European business schools in London earlier this month, including the likes of INSEAD and HEC Paris.

Team member Parth Kanetkar reports, "The team is passionate about this cause and we developed quite a few innovative ideas over the weeks of research and debate. The case was actually cracked within five hours on the actual competition day, each team presenting their solutions before a panel of judges. We did not get through to the global final in New York, but we did receive very positive feedback on our solution."
