• Year-long executive course is the second in a new series of diplomas
  • Classes will take place at WBS London at The Shard
  • Four four-day modules will offer cutting-edge research and tools
  • The course focuses on strategic leadership in the new digital landscape

Warwick Business School has launched a Warwick Diploma in Digital Leadership for executive development - the second in a new series of postgraduate diplomas.

Taught at the school’s WBS London base at The Shard, it is specifically designed to address the challenges facing senior executives who are asking questions about how they can develop sustainable and successful business strategies in today’s digital world.

The diploma delivers answers to the question of leadership in the digital age because, while leaders recognise they need to have a new take on their understanding of strategy, many only have fragments of the knowledge and tools they need.

The programme format allows participants to make an impact on their business with the minimum disruption to their working lives.

Andy Lockett, Dean and Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategy, said: “At WBS we are constantly seeking new ways to work with executives and organisations, share the results of our research and teaching, and create debate and dialogue that has a significant impact on management and leadership.

“That is why I am delighted that our expansion within our WBS London home at The Shard means that we can offer the new Warwick Diploma in Digital Leadership, led by Professor Ola Henfridsson, who also heads up the WBS Information Systems & Management group, which for three years in a row was named the best research group in Europe by the Association of Information Systems.

"They will be delivering cutting-edge research on the transformative potential of digital technology as it pervades modern business, entrepreneurship, and society.”

The first intake for the Warwick Diploma in Digital Leadership is in May 2019, with applications now open.

There will be four four-day modules on Platform Strategy, Business Impacts of Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics for Executives, and Leading Digital Transformation, all delivered over a year.

As well as gaining the latest knowledge, research and tools in digital strategy and leadership, participants will be able to build a supportive network among the cohort and with WBS academics and Professors of Practice, who have been plucked from industry, including the boards of FTSE 100 companies.

Professor Henfridsson, Programme Director of the new Warwick Diploma in Digital Leadership and Professor of Information Systems & Management, said: “The Warwick Diploma in Digital Leadership is designed to answer the question 'how do organisations need to strategise now, in a world that is digital?'

"This programme goes far beyond the seminar or conference talk on ‘digital disruption’. Our participants will look below the surface in order to define the business models, adopt the new business logic, and develop the strategic view of their organisation that is needed to succeed in the digital age.”
