Small firms in UK face a tough year ahead

3 August 2011

In an article on the latest quarterly business inflation guide from insurer More Than, appearing in the online magazine This is Money, WBS Professor Stephen Roper warns of a tough year ahead for small firms in the UK.

He comments, "'It is difficult to see inflationary pressures easing in 2011 as energy and input costs continue to climb. Where possible small businesses should look to take advantage of rapidly growing export markets in order to grow and maintain cashflow."

Professor Roper is Professor of Enterprise and Director of the Centre for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (CSME) at WBS.
