Talented Warwick students scoop marketing prizes
Two outstanding Warwick undergraduate students have scooped prizes for achievement in marketing from companies in the forefront of the advertising and marketing world.
Conoco, the leading operator of Jet petrol forecourts, has cemented its long-standing links with Warwick Business School by awarding this year's prize to the best graduating student specialising in marketing. Neil Hutchinson achieved excellent marks across a range of demanding specialist marketing courses including Marketing Strategy, Buyer Behaviour and Marketing Communications.
Course director Lyndon Simkin said, "Warwick's Management Science degree programme is one of the top in the UK and its graduates are highly sought after. Neil has excelled in these marketing courses and we wish him every success in the future."
Barry Quinn, general manager, marketing for Conoco in the UK, said, "I would like to congratulate Neil Hutchinson personally for his outstanding academic achievement in receiving this highly acclaimed award. Conoco has a strong allegiance with Warwick Business School and we are keen to support the school and its students. By investing in today's students we are investing in both their future and our tomorrows."
London-based advertising agency Conquest, part of the mighty WPP group, has sponsored the Best Marketing Communications Student award at Warwick Business School. Management Science graduate Julia Redman is this year's deserving recipient.
The Marketing Communications course examines life in agency-land, focusing on advertising, public relations and the link with marketing strategy.
According to course director, Dr Lyndon Simkin, 'This course annually produces students who go on to enjoy successful careers in advertising and promotions. Julia is a smashing advert for Warwick Business School and this course: we hope she goes on to an enjoyable career.'"
Julia said, "This award was a great surprise, I am honoured. It will come in very handy as I plan to travel for a year before taking up my position with Proctor and Gamble. I would like to thank everyone at WBS who made the course so relevant and interesting."
The prizes are both worth £250 plus a bottle of champagne and an engraved silver plate.
