Students Win CIMA Management Accounting Prize
Latest press releasesTwo undergraduate students at Warwick Business School were delighted to receive the CIMA prize for outstanding performance in their second year Management Accounting module.
Kiren Mahmood, aged 22, is from Birmingham, and is in the final year of her BSc in Accounting and Finance. Rachel Pattison, aged 21, is in her final year of the BSc Management Sciences degree, and comes from Co Durham. They each received a cheque for £225, and a presentation pen set.
The award is made annually by CIMA (The Chartered Institute of Management Accounting) who decided that the two students would be awarded a prize this year as they performed exceptionally. The prize is co-sponsored by Abbey National, and forms part of a national CIMA scheme with prizes at over 100 UK universities.
Daniel Gordon, Development Officer at CIMA, presented the two students with their awards at WBS. He said, " The skills these excellent students achieved will be invaluable in the workplace. We believe that the financial management training fundamental in the CIMA qualification is transferable across industry boundaries. I'm sure that Kiren and Rachel will do exceptionally well in their chosen careers and I hope they see today as an important milestone in their promising futures.”
Dr Sally Dibb, Associate Dean of the Undergraduate Programme at WBS, said, "We really appreciate CIMA's and Abbey National's interest in our students, who work very hard on a demanding degree programme. WBS particularly welcomes this scheme as a way of extending corporate support for high-flying Warwick students, and for bringing a valuable new link between WBS and leading companies with strong local links."
