Happy Double PhD
Warwick Business School has one of the largest and highest-regarded Doctoral research programmes in the world but in its 36 year history has never had a husband and wife pass their VIVA on the same day until Friday 8 August 2003.
Ariel Casarin and Maria Euginia Delfino both from Cordoba in Argentina, completed their MSc in Economics & Finance at Warwick Business School and returned to Warwick three and a half years ago to begin their Doctoral research. Ariel studied the Regulation of the gas industry in Argentina in the Business School, and Maria's research in Economics concerned the banking industry.
The couple found the encouragement that they were able to give each other, in addition to the support from their supervisors at Warwick, a great help during the past three and a half years.
When they return to Argentina, Ariel has a position at a leading business school and Maria will be looking for a position within the banking industry.
"We will be sorry to leave" said Maria. "The facilities at the Warwick campus have been fantastic and Kenilworth is a beautiful place to live."
