Crown Castle Awards Enterprising MBAs at WBS

MBA students at Warwick Business School have won prizes totalling £5,000 from Crown Castle UK, the UK's leading mobile telecommunication and broadcast transmission infrastructure management company.

The Crown Castle Prize for Innovation was awarded to Warwick MBA students whose performance was judged in a Marketing Strategy simulation. The competitors had to design, manufacture and market a new generation of personal portable data processing and communication devices.

Presenting a cheque for £2,000 and a trophy to the winning group of students were Peter Abery, Chief Executive Officer, and John Ward, Director, Network Operations & Engineering, both based at Crown Castle's offices in Warwick. John Ward is also a member of the Advisory Board of WBS. The runner-up group received a cheque for £1,500, and the two joint third groups each received £750.

Peter Abery of Crown Castle said, "Innovation is the lifeblood of our business and that's why we are pleased to support this award for another year. The quality of thought that has gone into these projects is testament to the abilities of the students and of the quality of the programme taught by WBS."

Howard Thomas, Dean of WBS, said, "We value the contribution made by Crown Castle to WBS, not only in their generosity and support for our MBA students, but for their high standards in business innovation and development on a multinational scale. Their success is a great example to all our students at WBS, many of whom are tomorrow's business leaders."

The winning group of five come from the UK, China, Europe, and South America, illustrating the multi-national and multi-cultural nature of MBA students at WBS. They are
  • Antonino Aversa - Italian
