New Masters in Management at Warwick Business School

WBS is launching a new Masters degree, the MSc in Management, starting in October 2006. The degree has been designed to meet demand from top quality graduates in subjects unrelated to business, who wish to follow a career in management but do not have the work experience necessary for The Warwick MBA.

The new degree aims to provide a broad education on management and business, and will balance breadth of content with depth of coverage. This will be achieved through a central core module, the Foundations of Corporate Performance, which integrates the various elements of business study by considering different organisations' performance, the determinants of that performance, and the means of improvement and correction. Elective modules will allow for greater depth of study in areas of specific interest to the student.

Additionally, the expertise of the WBS Personal and Career Development team will enable students to polish their personal style and practice teamwork skills. Assessment will be through coursework, exams, and a dissertation.

Dr Michael Shulver is Academic Director of the MSc in Management:

"WBS graduates have an excellent global reputation for both their knowledge and their professional abilities, because we ensure that learning is embedded in practice. Our teaching clearly links the functional areas of management and business activity with considerations of the environment in which it operates and by which it is constrained. By anchoring our teaching to real-world business constraints we provide an edge for graduates wanting to enhance their employability. This course will add not only theoretical business knowledge to their specialist first degree, but also a sound appreciation of application."

The one-year degree with be available through full-time study. The tuition fee will be £12,500.
