ESRC and CIM recognition for MSc Marketing & Strategy

WBS's MSc Marketing & Strategy has successfully gained Economic and Social Research Council ESRC recognition. The ESRC aims to provide high quality research on issues of importance to business, the public sector and government. This recognition means that UK and EU students on this programme may be able to apply for ESRC-funded scholarships for the 2009-2010 intake. This is part of the ESRC's 1+3 scheme, whereby students spend 1 year on an MSc and a further 3 years on a PhD programme.

David Arnott, Programme Director says "The MSc in Marketing & Strategy, despite having very stringent entry criteria and being in only its 3rd year, is an extremely successful programme, recruiting over 85 very high calibre students to this year's cohort. While it caters for those wishing to enter the commercial world with a high level of understanding about the role and value to businesses of marketing and strategy, one reason for maintaining high academic entry standards is to attract some students who are seriously considering further study via a research degree. The ESRC accreditation of this MSc, one of several such accreditations within the WBS Specialist Masters portfolio, will boost the visibility and attractiveness of the programme to this target market. In addition, recruitment to Masters programmes is highly dependent on reputation and standing. Such accreditations are noted by all potential students, even those not wishing to pursue a research career. The MSc Marketing & Strategy team consider ESRC recognition a major asset in the further development of the reputation of the programme and of WBS as an excellent place for postgraduate study of marketing and strategy."

This MSc is also now accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) accreditation of Prior Learning (APL). This allows students who have chosen the Marketing and Communications elective module to gain an extra qualification, Professional Diploma in Marketing. In order to gain this qualification, students will need to take two CIM assessments.
