WBS professor to lead review of UK water industry
Professor Martin Cave, director of Warwick Business School's Centre for Management under Regulation, is to lead a year-long review of the UK water industry.
The review will start next month, and has been commissioned by the Treasury and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The review will focus on prices, water efficiency, infrastructure and regulatory burdens, and may lead to the end of the current near monopoly held by just a few large water companies.
Environment secretary Hilary Benn recommended Martin's "wide experience of competitive markets" and said he was "excellently placed to take forward this important work".
In 2007, Martin was asked by the UK government to lead a review into social housing, which was published in March 2007.
