Three WBS undergraduates win UBS-sponsored prizes for Financial Management
Three second-year WBS undergraduate students have won prizes for their outstanding performances in last year's Financial Management module, taught by Principal Teaching Fellow Dr Peter Corvi. The prizes were sponsored by the investment bank UBS.
Keshav Bhajanka from India, a BSc Accounting & Finance student, won first prize of £200, whilst Erik Wottrich from Sweden, and Nancy Chen from China, both BSc Management students, shared second and third prizes, and received £100 each.
The prizes were presented by Marco Buonaguidi, Director of Investment Banking at UBS, at an evening event held in the Ramphal lecture theatre on Thursday, 30 October, and attended by over 300 undergraduates. After presenting the winners with their prizes, Marco delivered a guest lecture entitled The £16-billion defence and sale of British Airports Authority - How to create value for your client. This was followed by a drinks reception, courtesy of UBS.
Peter Corvi commented afterwards, "WBS is extremely grateful to UBS for sponsoring these very generous prizes and for hosting the drinks reception, and of course to Marco for taking time out of his busy schedule to present the prizes and to deliver his guest lecture. The winners will, I'm sure, put their prize money to good use. The students who attended the guest lecture have had a unique opportunity to listen to someone who played a key advisory role in the £16-billion takeover of BAA by Ferrovial, and who was willing to share valuable insights with them."
Marco was accompanied by four colleagues from UBS, including two WBS alumni, Oleg Mukhanov and Konstantin Oelfke.
