WBS undergraduates win prizes from the Association of Corporate Treasurers
Three final year WBS undergraduate students have shared prizes for their outstanding performances in last year's Finance 1 and Finance 2 modules, taught by Senior Teaching Fellow Dr Alex Stremme and Assistant Professor Dr Chendi Zhang. The prizes were sponsored by the Association of Corporate Treasurers.
Christos Symeou from Cyprus, a BSc Management student, and Nicholas Morgan from the Channel Isles, a BSc Accounting & Finance student, shared the prize of £200 for Finance 1, whilst Christos and Katarzyna Godlewska from Poland, a BSc Management student, shared the prize of £200 for Finance 2. Each student also received a certificate from the Association of Corporate Treasurers.
The prizes were presented by James Lockyer, Director of Education at the Association of Corporate Treasurers. After presenting the winners with their prizes, James delivered a guest lecture entitled Corporate Finance: The Role of the Company Treasurer.
Dr Peter Corvi, Course Director of the BSc Accounting & Finance degree, commented afterwards, "WBS is extremely grateful to the Association of Corporate Treasurers for sponsoring these very generous prizes, and to James in particular for taking time out of his busy schedule to present the prizes and to deliver his guest lecture. The winners will, I'm sure, put their prize money to good use. The students who attended the guest lecture will now have a much better understanding of the important role that Corporate Treasury plays in the running of a company. The insights that James offered will stand them in very good stead for further study of Corporate Finance."
Professor Paul Edwards, Associate Dean of the WBS Undergraduate Programme, was also present at the prize-giving and guest lecture.
