Indian executives visit Warwick Business School
Last week saw the arrival at Warwick Business School of 20 executives from India, to stay in Europe for 5 weeks and gain an international perspective of business. All of them are currently studying at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) on a flagship Postgraduate Diploma in Management for Executives. This is a course for executives with substantial work experience, and includes an International Immersion element, which is carried out at a range of international institutions including WBS. The current visitors are the first cohort to come to WBS.
The first week will be spent at WBS, where leading academics will lead intensive sessions on doing business in Europe. For the remainder of their visit, the executives will carry out real-life projects in teams of up to 4 in organisations in Europe.
Carol Rue, Director of Personal & Career Development at WBS, comments, "This programme gives participants an international experience to enable them to work effectively in an environment different from their own home culture, and to understand macro-economic underpinnings, and strengths and weaknesses of the UK and other European countries from a business perspective.
She continued, "These executives offer skills in management areas including strategy, marketing, investment analysis, business process improvement (BPO), change management, and programme/project management innovation, and our partner organisations are very excited about the benefits of the different perspectives these international executives will bring to their business challenges. This is an important step in Warwick Business School's aim to further develop our relations with India, and is a practical demonstration of our commitment to continue our development as a truly global leading business school."
Harish Chasmawalla, spokesman for the group, commented, "We arrived on a Sunday and were welcomed by the smiling Sam Brook who took care of all our initial arrangements which made our stay in Coventry enjoyable. The home-stay arrangement gave quite a few of the students an opportunity to experience the British way of life.
"The well-balanced course content and the excellent faculty with experience across Western and Eastern Europe exposed us to the practical nuances of doing business in Europe.
"The networking event gave us a chance to interact with the energetic MBA participants at WBS and build bonds, which we expect to be mutually beneficial.
"On behalf of all of us, I would also like to thank Carol Rue for arranging excellent projects for us. We are confident that the relationship between the two top business schools in Europe and Asia, WBS-IIMA, will grow stronger in the years to come, giving a global exposure to students of both schools."
