WBS faculty welcome third cohort of Diploma participants in Singapore

Third cohortWarwick Business School faculty members Professor Bob Johnston and Senior Teaching Fellow Andrew Hardwick have recently returned from Singapore where they welcomed the third cohort of over 30 participants onto the Graduate Diploma in Service Leadership.

The Diploma was launched in March 2007 and is a specialised programme in Service Leadership. It was designed and developed by Bob Johnston and Andrew Hardwick and launched in Singapore through a unique partnership between WBS, the Singapore Workforce Development Agency, and the Singapore Institute of Management.

It is taught only in Singapore for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents of the country. Six four-day workshops are matched with assignments and a business project. Learning and working through the 15 months of the programme aims to embed key service leadership principles into the business, while study modules ensure the development and rounded understanding of business and management.

An impressive number of industries are represented in the new cohort:

  • Banking and Insurance
  • Car Servicing
  • Civil Service
  • Education
  • Electronics - B2B and Retail
  • Ferry Services
  • Hospitals and Clinics
  • Hotels
  • Luxury Goods and Fashion Retailing
  • Telecommunications
  • Zoological.

Bob Johnston, Deputy Dean and Academic Director of the Diploma, is a founding member and vice president of the Institute of Customer Service. He commented, "It is satisfying to see the third cohort commence study in Singapore. The delivery of the Diploma is designed to involve the learner, their manager, and their WBS tutor in a 3-way review process. This ensures success for both participants and their sponsoring companies."
