Honours awarded to WBS faculty
Professors Bob Johnston and Nigel Slack have been awarded Honorary Fellowships of the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA).
Bob and Nigel were honoured with fellowships at the recent EurOMA annual conference in Porto, where Bob also delivered the keynote address. EurOMA is an international network of academics and practitioners from around the world who have a common interest in operations management.
Commended for their long service to the subject of operations management, Bob's and Nigel's significant contributions to both research and teaching include their authorships of the leading operations management textbooks, and their involvement in the development of the Association.
They join a small elite group of OM Fellows including Chris Voss from London Business School, Andy Neely from Cambridge and Christer Karlsson from Copenhagen.
Emerald publishing awards
Bob Johnston has received another award in the past month. His paper Why service recovery fails: Tensions among customer employee and process perspectives in the Journal of Service Management (Vol. 20, No.3, 2009) received an Outstanding Paper Award from the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2010.
In the same awards, Martin Kunc, Assistant Professor of Operational Research and Management Sciences, received a Highly Commended award for his paper Forecasting the development of wine tourism: A case study in Chile in the International Journal of Wine Business Research (Vol 21, No.4, 2009). He is pictured receiving his award from Jim Bowden of Emerald Group Publishing Ltd.
