Linda Norgrove 1974 - 2010

Professor Mark Taylor, Dean of WBS sends his condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr Linda Norgrove who had been taken hostage in eastern Afghanistan on September 26 this year and died in the course of a rescue attempt on October 8.

It was with great sorrow that I learned of the tragic death of Linda Norgrove.

Linda was a Distance Learning MBA student at Warwick Business School who began her studies here in January 2006 and was very near completion. She was 36 years of age and was regional director of a jobs programme with the US aid organisation Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI) and had been based in Jalalabad.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy, on behalf of Warwick Business School, to Linda's family, friends and colleagues for the loss of a highly intelligent, brave, dedicated and supremely compassionate woman.

Linda was a wonderful individual who contributed so much to the school community and to the world. She had so much more to give, and we are deeply saddened at her loss, but we are proud that Linda was part of our community and we will not forget her.
