An invitation to 'join the conversation'
Warwick Business School has this week launched an online pilot initiative, 'Joining the conversation' which allows all stakeholders from WBS to share online their thoughts and views, through video and podcasts, about their time at Warwick and its impact on their lives.
The pilot includes such aspects as the benefits of being a mentor and mentee, how completing the Warwick MBA provides the knowledge and confidence to challenge others in business, and how the start-up space is so exciting. Current students, alumni and WBS faculty have contributed to the videos and podcasts, which cover a wide range of countries and sectors.
Fiona Williams, who graduated with a Warwick MBA in 2008, came up with the idea. Fiona works as an independent interim manager and consultant (strategic engagement, communications and marketing), and led a team from across WBS in transforming the idea into reality. She commented, "There are so many of us passing through Warwick's doors. I've always been curious as to what fellow students and alumni are up to now and I know that I'm not the only one. Joining the conversation is one way we can share our stories and connect."
Students and alumni who have contributed include:
- Geoff Cousins (Managing Director, Jaguar UK);
- Tom Poon (Co-founder of Express Golf, Hong Kong);
- Yoav Gordon (Current Warwick MBA Distance Learning Student);
- Dr Otto Frommelt (Managing Director of Volvo Austria GmbH);
- Emma Hardy (Commercial Manager, Mouchel, UK);
- Sanjiv Patel (Principal at Integral Wealth Management, UK);
- and our own member of faculty, Dr Sue Bridgewater.
Rachel Killian, WBS acting Director of Marketing, commented, "This initiative is a great opportunity for us to engage the wider WBS community through digital media. It is also the first major project that we've launched across the School that includes social media as one of the main distribution channels. We really hope that our students, alumni and faculty will also 'join the conversation' and upload their own stories for sharing."
