Well-deserved award and recognition for WBS professor
At the 48th British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA) Annual Conference, Professor Keith Hoskin of Warwick Business School will be announced as British Accounting and Finance Association Distinguished Academic for 2011. This is the first time a member of faculty from WBS has won this award.
The 3-day BAFA conference takes place in April, and is hosted by Aston Business School in Birmingham.
Professor Hoskin richly deserves this award:
- He is a leading historian and theorist on accounting and its relations to management, organizations and strategy, and is author of some of the most cited papers in the accounting research field over the past two decades
- He has contributed to the accounting profession through his research into the field of learning and education, particularly focusing on the redesign of professional training in accountancy.
- He served on both the 2001 RAE Accounting & Finance Panel and the 2008 Accounting & Finance Sub-Panel, and also served on the Learning and Professional Development Board of the ICAEW from 2001-8.
- He is also the immediate past Chair of the Conference of Professors of Accounting and Finance (2008 - 2010).
Keith commented on his award, "I am extremely honoured to receive the BAFA Distinguished Academic Award for 2011, particularly given that it is the judgement of my peers in the Accounting and Finance fields. At the same time, it is very humbling, knowing the intellectual stature of those who have received it in the past. But finally, I am very pleased for WBS, since I very much see this as an endorsement of the research that we in the Accounting area undertake, thanks to the enabling research culture of the School."
