Launch of Inaugural Lecture Series for professors new to WBS

In the last four months, WBS has appointed no less than 13 new professors across a broad range of subject areas and expertise.

WBS Dean, Professor Mark Taylor, decided this was too good an opportunity to slip by, and so he has established an Inaugural Lecture Series, to be delivered by professors new to WBS on a topic related to their research.

The first lecture in the Series will be given by Professor Bruno Frey and is on a very topical and wide-ranging area of interest. The title Should Government Maximize Happiness? provokes reaction across government, business, and higher education. It takes place on Tuesday 8th March. (full details here).

The second lecture will be given by Professor Martin Parker on Tuesday 17th May and is entitled Can business schools question management? This question is always a 'hot potato' in higher education, focusing as it does on the tensions between a business school and its university, or should that be between a university and its business school?! (full details here).

Prof Steve BrammerProfessor Steve Brammer is one of the new 13, and as WBS Associate Dean (Research) is the figurehead for the lecture series. He comments, "These lectures will serve to disseminate the latest research in our own particular areas of expertise as we are reaching the peak of our careers. It is exciting that we each have the opportunity to address a lively and critical audience which includes not only academia but representatives from business and beyond."

Anyone wishing to attend a lecture in this series will need to register in advance. Click on the links above to each lecture for further details and to register to attend.
