Life at WBS
Study at WBS and you will become a member of a lively international community and benefit from all the study and social opportunities that life at WBS has to offer. Set in the heart of tranquil Warwickshire countryside The University of Warwick campus has just about everything you need for work and relaxation, all on one site.
Good public transport makes it easy for you to get out and about to Coventry, Birmingham, Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick. Birmingham International Airport is just 30 minutes away and in little over an hour you can be in central London. Our location in the centre of the country means you can get just about anywhere with ease.
Having studied previously at a smaller institution I have been positively
overwhelmed by the breadth and depth of the research community at WBS
and the commitment many of the departments show with regard to academic debate and dialogue.
Sometimes large institutions might be perceived or experienced as quite a lonely place
for PhD research. My experience, however, is the complete opposite.
Wherever I turn there is somebody interested in what I am doing and ready to comment
or venture an opinion which, if I am honest, is not what I expected coming to such a
well established and, in many respects, vast university campus.
Interactions with my supervisor have mirrored the ethos behind WBS,
the commitment to academic debate, progression and high quality research,
in addition to a 'knowingness' that your research is being framed and
pushed towards an international level.
WBS provides a platform for high level academic inquiry, with the
only caveat being that you have to stand on that stage and perform.
All-in-all I could not wish to be anywhere else.
