MSc Finance & Economics
This course will be ideal for you if you already have a strong economics background, are highly numerate, and now want to learn to apply your knowledge specifically to finance to open up your career options.
Our study programme teaches you to apply the most advanced tools in finance, and become confident in undertaking research in finance & economics on your own.
WBS benefits from excellent links to key financial institutions and employers who support our Finance courses. Our course has benefited from a range of recommendations following consultation with the Bank of England, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and many of our alumni. Best practice is embedded in our study programme - as WBS is a CFA Program Partner, employers will know that our masters equips you with the skills that practitioners need in the field.
You must have a strong background in economics from your undergraduate studies to apply.
WBS was recommended by lecturers at my previous university as one of the few good universities to offer a masters combining finance with economics. The facilities here are excellent and we have 24-hour access which is important as it's a very demanding course.
We're quite a small cohort, and yet very diverse in our backgrounds. Everyone is very friendly. All the staff are also very approachable, kind and open, and always ready to help with any issues with the daily intellectual challenges we face. Most modules refer to real world issues and use real-life case studies; while we study academic theory it's firmly rooted in practice.
