Graduate CIPD status
If you want to pursue a career specialising in the management and development of people, you'll benefit from a qualification from the Chartered Institute for Personnel & Development (CIPD).
Gaining our MA in Industrial Relations & Managing Human Resources gives you exemption from stages 1 & 2 of the CIPD examinations. This means that when you graduate from WBS you can at the same time obtain the Graduateship qualification of the CIPD. This provides the basis for full Corporate Membership (MCIPD) after three years' experience in personnel management.
To gain Graduate CIPD status you will need to:
- Take the core module Employment Relations in Britain
- Take two elective modules from the Critical Issues in Managing Human Resources stream
- Take an additional course in Personnel Skills, and pass the assessments.
An extra fee is charged as a contribution to the costs of providing the additional tuition.
If you wish to be considered for graduate CIPD status please indicate this when you return your option form. The CIPD requires us to interview all CIPD route candidates, and we will do this during the first weeks of the academic year.
If you don't have relevant work experience you will need to participate in a 'work-shadowing' exercise and to submit a report on this.
