Trevor Colling WBS is acknowledged internationally as a leading centre for the study of employment relations. Our Industrial Relations Research Unit (IRRU) is at the forefront of international research and we are also engaged practically with employers, trade unions, and policy makers through the European Industrial Relations Observatory (EIRO). Our faculty write the books and articles on other institutions' reading lists.

Our MA in Industrial Relations &, Managing Human Resources builds upon the success of our previous MA in Industrial Relations & Personnel Management. We will give you a thorough understanding of all aspects of employment relations, allowing you to critically examine key institutions and address contemporary issues. You will focus on the UK within a broader comparative framework, drawing on a range of disciplinary perspectives.

This course provides an excellent grounding in both the theory and practice of employment relations and will be relevant to you whether you want to work in human resource management, general management, unions, consultancy, or research. Our students see us as leaders in the field: providing innovative and critical teaching; combining vocational relevance with academic rigour; and equipping you for challenging practitioner roles or doctoral research.

Our course is accredited by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) to allow you to be funded through your Masters degree and into doctoral research. We also have excellent links with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Trevor is currently researching several areas including: employment practice in multinational companies, legal regulation of the employment relationship, and employee representation and trade union strategies.
