My project enabled the management team to hear about potential changes in industry, technology, and society and then debate how this might translate to our business.
The result was both confirmation of the fit (or not) of existing strategic plans, plus the identification of a small number of areas where it was felt we should invest now to create options for the future.
The project itself was challenging.
At just four weeks' notice I ran a conference including leading external speakers and structured workshops for some 50 senior managers, showing what can be achieved with focus and executive support.
The project and dissertation taught me both personal organisation skills and developed my understanding of how to manage groups of people.
Personally I had to manage my time, learn how to structure the report, and maintain my motivation during the three months it took to complete.
