I have a career in senior management in the non-profit sector
I came to the Warwick MBA from a completely non-profit background.
I was a Country Director for the international youth development organisation
Students Partnership Worldwide for six years, first in the US and then in Uganda.
To run a charity, it's critical to have all the tools of business covered in an MBA at your fingertips.
Both to manage the organisation sustainably and to help understand and articulate the business case for corporate support of the charitable activities.
Because the Warwick MBA offers a wide range of core and elective modules, I can tailor it to meet my specific needs: focusing on project management, finance management, strategic analysis and planning, HRM and new venture creation.
In each of these modules, WBS is helping me explore the relevant tools.
They provide a range of examples of their application in the lessons, from public healthcare, private corporations and non-profit sectors.
They also encourage the application of the tools to the non-profit sector in assignments and exams as well as at work.
Most recently I've been working on strategic planning for a new department, applying many of the theories and tools from strategic analysis and marketing.
Also, HRM and financial management concepts are relevant on a daily basis in developing and managing my team and the organisation's finances.
Looking forward, I'm confident the Warwick MBA will give me the grounding I need to continue my career in the non-profit sector.
I can focus on senior management within international organisations and agencies addressing poverty alleviation in developing countries.
