Entrepreneurship & New Venture Creation
This module aims to develop your understanding of entrepreneurs and the firms they create and manage. It is designed to provide an insight into the nature and identity of entrepreneurship as it has been perceived by others, along with exploration of your own entrepreneurial potential.
You will focuses on two main areas:
- An objective analysis of entrepreneurship in theory, practice, and policy
- investigating and experiencing the creative processes involved in generating and assessing entrepreneurial ideas.
By the end of this module you will be able to:
- Explain the role and importance of the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector in the economy
- Demonstrate knowledge of the economic and non-economic theories presented to explain the behaviour of entrepreneurs
- Appreciate how to create, evaluate, and develop commercial ideas
- Explain the obstacles and barriers to business formation and development
- State the objectives of policy and describe the main types of support available to different types of SMEs and entrepreneurs.
