Cross-cultural Management
This module is taught, in English, at Mannheim Business School, Germany.
Managers working across cultures have to acquire keys, a cognitive one, enabling to master the cultural dimension; a behavioural one, learning how to exert a leadership based on cultural differences and a strategic one, integrating cross-cultural perspective in global thinking, especially in the context of mergers & acquisitions.
Starting from cases studies or simulations and combining both field and research, this module therefore aims to prepare participants to work successfully in international teams by increasing their cultural awareness and knowledge and developing their skills of communicating and managing in diverse cultural environments. The objectives of this module are:
- To identify the cultural differences that lead to misunderstandings, frustration and conflict in their real context
- To understand their source by analysing the historical, family and educational factors involved
- To provide tools to facilitate cooperation within mixed teams as needed in bi- or multicultural corporations.
There are other elective modules available in this field.
