What students sayI worked under the supervision of Guglielmo Meardi, Associate Professor of Industrial Relations, for my research project Explorative research on intra-EU migrant and labour market regulations in the West Midlands. I focused on the expectations, problems, needs, and general opinions on the labour market, and economic and social chances of locally-based Polish migrants who have come to the UK since Poland joined the EU.
I have learnt a lot through this project, including the importance of interviewing skills, question design, and how best to use technology to interpret information. It introduced me to the concept of research as a career and way of thinking, not just an assessment exercise. It will be an invaluable tool in my future employment.
