Requirements

Competition for the 40 places on our BSc in International Business is strong. All applications are considered individually. A range of A level or equivalent subjects is preferred, including mathematics or a natural science, and a humanities or social science subject. You should also show some evidence of subject continuity, eg. taking one or more subjects forward from Year 11 to A level or equivalent study. Our typical minimum academic entry requirements are below.

Academic qualifications

You must have seven GCSEs minimum: A in Mathematics, B in English, plus at least five other A or B grades, plus one of the qualifications below.

Your degree will include study in one of the following languages: French, German, Spanish, or Italian. To study Italian, you must have a modern foreign language at A level or equivalent. For French, German, or Spanish you must have an A level or equivalent in that subject. You may not study a language in which you are already a fluent or native speaker.

A/AS level
AAA at A level plus B in a fourth subject at AS level, or A*AA at A level. You must have qualifications in the language you intend to study: A level French, German, Spanish, or Italian. 21 units of study, with at least 9 units studied in Year 13, 6 at A level. General Studies are normally excluded from offers.
Access course
Access to HE Diploma (QAA-recognised) including appropriate subjects with distinction grades in level 3 units. Candidates must meet essential subject requirements.
Scottish certificate
Advanced Higher AA plus at least Higher ABB in three other subjects.
Irish Leaving Certificate
AAABBB
Welsh Baccalaureate
Core pass, plus a further 18 units of advanced study reaching the A/AS requirement above
International Baccalaureate
38 points, with no less than 5 in HL
