MSc Business Analytics
I particularly enjoyed the consulting style group presentations throughout the MSc Business Analytics course, which allowed me to apply theoretical lecture material in a real-life scenario, and present the key implications to stakeholders. Not only did this solidify my learning and shape a truly analytical mind-set, the group work setting also challenged my communication and leadership skills, going beyond pure academia. The multitude of resources available, like free access to Datacamp or additional courses for industry leading tools like Alteryx or Tableau, were highly interesting and emphasised the career preparation focus of our course.
I would definitely recommend future students visit WBS London based at The Shard where you can attend fantastic guest speaker events, giving you the chance to engage with industry experts, see the iconic building and explore the multi-cultural city.
MSc Business Analytics
For those starting the course, I would recommend for you to be proactive and try to get as much exposure as you can; you should not be afraid of networking or asking for advice. Being proactive means planning ahead, either for academic study or for career progression. WBS has a diverse community, so you should try your best to step out of your comfort zone, be open-minded, meet new people, and participate in activities that you have true passion for.
This year I participated in the Case Study Day with MBA and other specialist masters students. We had to complete an intensive case competition, and received feedback from judges in different industries from consulting to technology. This experience was a great networking opportunity which I found really useful.
MSc Business Analytics, 2016 - 17
Coming from a Business Management background, I identified data-processing as an interesting, prestigious and relatively new area of business. Considering the WBS Operational Research & Management Science team’s world-class reputation, I realised that WBS was the best option for exploring and learning analytics.
The group-based, real-life case studies throughout the course allow for critical application of knowledge within the dynamics of a team. This is great practice for team strategy evaluation and for future careers.
The provision of extra resources and qualifications available for free, such as the SAS Programming certificate or R Programming qualification, is also one of the best things about the course, and these extra qualifications are all appreciated by potential employers.
MSc Business Analytics, 2015 - 16
I was first attracted to WBS by two things: firstly its reputation as a world class business school, and secondly by the student diversity across the school.
I was interested in Business Analytics for some time, but knew very little about it, so every module was a new learning experience. I think the dissertation was the best part for me; I liked dissecting the topics, arguments and ideas, analysing and figuring out how it all fit together, and developing my views on the issues. Even though it was challenging, overall it was extremely fulfilling and rewarding!
WBS CareersPlus offered amazing one-on-one sessions, which are extremely useful if you know very little of the UK job market. They really took the time to understand what I wanted, what my interests were, and how I could frame my past work experience for various job opportunities.

I chose WBS because of its reputation. Everyone I spoke to recommended it and had lots of good and positive things to say about studying here.
The teaching facilities and opportunities on offer are amazing. Being able to combine very different fields ranging from decision-making, simulation, optimisation, and supply chain management, enabled me to explore my areas of interest which made the course experience very personal.
The course is a good mix; it’s academic whilst encompassing real-world problems in a business context. It provides good insight into current research and combines that with practical knowledge and useful skills for various industries. I was also taught by outstanding and dedicated professors in their field who had both practical and academic experience.
MSc Business Analytics, 2014-15
WBS gave me the opportunity to become part of a multicultural, diverse environment, witness different points of view, and learn from top professors as well as top students. I always felt like I had 24/7 support and guidance, whether from academics or the WBS Careers team.
The MSc Business Analytics programme gave me an overview of important analytics tools, and taught me how to apply analytical concepts and integrate these into consulting cases. On top of this, the chance to learn from real-life business case scenarios and visiting professionals from international companies further enhanced my learning experience.
I’m currently working for a consultancy company and apply my university knowledge every day. I am absolutely sure that the MSc Business Analytics programme was the right step towards my growth and development.
MSc Business Analytics, 2015-16
I was attracted to WBS by the focus MSc Business Analytics gave to practical learning and career preparation.
I’ve gained hands-on experience in a number of analytical areas, all of which have helped me develop an analytic mind-set. This helps me make strategic decisions based on data. The lecturers at WBS are dedicated to delivering highly engaging, interactive lectures and to ensuring all theory is applied to practical case examples.
The guidance I received from the WBS CareersPlus service was tremendously helpful throughout my job application process. I was able to improve my CV writing and networking techniques by attending workshops and on-campus recruiting events. Also, I was coached through individual and group mock interviews, which provided me with constructive feedback and boosted my confidence.
