MSc Financial Mathematics, 2018-19
After completing my undergraduate studies in Mathematics last year I wanted to deepen my understanding of mathematics, specifically in a high-level financial context, in order to pursue a career within the investment sector.
For me, the best thing about the MSc Financial Mathematics course is the depth of understanding that is expected from all students. From day one, the academics set their expectations high for the cohort, and I find this highly motivating. The course modules interweave and overlap with relevant concepts and ideas, emphasising the fundamental underpinning of quantitative finance and giving real-world applications of the rigid theoretical content. The lecturers are all in the top of their field, showcasing the three departments' commitment to delivering the highest quality teaching.
MSc Financial Mathematics, 2016-17
Quantitative Analyst, Man AHL
I wanted to undertake a top-level MSc in Financial Mathematics in order to facilitate a career transition into a quantitative role within the financial sector. Warwick has a world-class reputation on both the Business side and the Mathematics / Statistics side, so choosing this course at WBS was a no-brainer. I have learned so many new and specialised skills, taught in small class sizes by expert lecturers.
The WBS name goes a long way, I managed to secure myself a job at one of the world’s largest hedge funds just two months after my course had begun. I truly feel that this Masters equips me fully with the knowledge and skills I need to achieve my full potential in the quantitative finance industry.
I play in the University Symphony Orchestra, and I have participated in Warwick’s Opera and Musical Theatre productions. There is so much going on around campus; there is certainly something for everyone.
MSc Financial Mathematics 2016-17
After working in the finance industry with HSBC for two years I wanted to further my studies in the area of Financial Mathematics. WBS – with its positive, international reputation, was an obvious choice and I was not disappointed.
The course offered a well-balanced mixture of material relevant to the industry and professional support was always available along the way. While the course was extensive, I found that the covered material was very helpful for me to now further pursue my studies at a Doctoral level.
Besides the academic side, I was also really impressed by the Careers Service that is offered by WBS which focuses on helping and motivating every student to be fully ready for the job market.
Associate Software Developer, Listed Derivatives, Morgan Stanley
WBS is well ranked and has a good reputation. I spoke to people in industry who recommended it highly, and a graduate whose response was extremely positive and encouraging. I was hoping for an intellectual challenge, good course material relevant to industry, and job opportunities – I was not disappointed. It was certainly taught at a high level, there were helpful careers fairs and company presentations, and the careers service was very good.
I signed a contract with Morgan Stanley before I left so WBS had already helped me to get the job that I wanted and put me in a good position to progress quickly.
