Leadership & Decision Making for Teams Under Pressure

Registration Required

This workshop is an exciting mix of stories, images and critical success factors from the leaders and team members of groups of people who have actually been there and done it.

People such as Emily, Red Cross Emergency Response team member deployed to Bangladesh and Haiti after the hurricanes and Pete, a Puma Helicopter Navigator who made a critical error of judgement and endangered the lives of his crew and his passengers. You will hear the stories of Paul, CEO of an international logistics firm whose central distribution centre went up in smoke during the Buncefield fire of 2005 and Gaynor, Managing Director of Jennings brewery, flooded in the 2009 floods in Cockermouth, Cumbria.

The list of similar characters Piers has worked with and interviewed for this workshop include the leaders of business teams, aid agency workers, medical and military people, sports men and women and emergency services  to name but a few. All had experienced high-pressure situations, some are trained to respond and others were thrust into the events without warning.

The interviews revealed a series of success factors. These factors are not unique to ‘hero leaders’ and ‘extreme teams’. They relate, just as easily, to our everyday lives and work. We all work under pressure at different times; systems fail, markets change, accidents happen and people make mistakes so how do we cope?

How do we cope with the things we can plan for never mind the things out of our control?

"Would You pass the Cheese Test?" will help you and your team build resilience and achieve success in any kind of pressured situation. It comprises a series of key learning points or success factors brought to life with an engaging and exciting story telling style of presentation supported by a workshop, which helps to embed the learning and highlight the success factors. It goes beyond a simple keynote presentation and develops the ideas in an interactive, discussion-based workshop.
