Whitney Johnson: BUILD AN A-TEAM

After a successful career on Wall Street, Whitney Johnson co-founded an investment firm with Clayton Christensen - the 'father' of disruptive innovation theory - and had a realization: companies don't disrupt, people do.

In her book, Build an A-Team, Whitney argues that if you want your organisation to thrive, you must allow and even demand that your people disrupt themselves. Every person in your organisation is on a learning curve - from inexperience, to engagement, to mastery. As a leader, you need to constantly provide opportunities for learning; bored workers don't disrupt, they get disrupted.

On 8th October, Whitney will join us at Warwick Business School's London base at The Shard to share ideas from her new book. Helping you to identify the individual learning curves that make up your organization, she will reveal how to build an A-Team - a team that innovates and disrupts - from workers at different phases of the curve.

Whitney will be joined in discussion by Maja Korica, Associate Professor within the Organisation and HRM group at WBS.

The event is being held in partnership with Harvard Business Review and Thinkers50, a global platform for management ideas.

Attendees will be able to pick up a free copy oBuild an A-Team at the event.

Whitney Johnson is a CEO advisor and a frequent keynote speaker on disruption. After her decade as an Institutional Investor on Wall Street, she co-founded the Disruptive Innovation Fund with Harvard Business School's Clayton Christensen. She has been recognized as one of the world's most influential management thinkers by Thinkers50 and Fortune.

Maja Korica was shortlisted in 2017 for the Thinkers50 Radar Award, which aims to identify management thinkers most likely to shape the future of how organizations are led and managed.  Prior to her current appointment, she taught at St. Catherine's College, Oxford as a Senior Stipendiary Lecturer and Subject Tutor in Management, and held a range of senior positions in a private start-up. An award-winning teacher, she was recognized in September 2017 as one of the Top 40 Undergraduate Professors by Poets & Quants.
