We are delighted to announce that Paul Blanchard, Chief Executive Officer of Commonwealth Games England will be at Warwick Business School's Coventry campus on Wednesday 12 June 2019.
Paul will speak on "600 people, 30,000 items of kit, 182 bikes, 6 javelins and 4 gymnastic hoops: the trials and tribulations of working in sport".
Speaker biography
Paul has over 25 years’ experience in the sports industry and is currently CEO at Commonwealth Games England (CGE). He has worked in Cricket at The Oval, Football at Southampton and Scottish Premier League, Rugby League at Hull KR and Harlequins and also the NFL in Europe. Prior to CGE he was CEO at The Surrey Sports Park, an elite athlete training and event venue based at The University of Surrey and was Chair of The County Sports Partnership, Active Surrey.
CGE is responsible for managing Team England at the Commonwealth Games, where they enjoyed considerable success in Gold Coast 2018, winning 136 medals and finishing second in the table. Focus is now on preparations for the next Games in 2022, which will be held in Birmingham.
