WBS Distinguished Lecture Series with Mark Britnell Thursday, 3 November

We are pleased to announce that for our first Distinguished Lecture in the 2022/2023 Distinguished Lecture Series, we will be hosting Mark Britnell, Vice Chairman of KPMG UK. His talk will discuss his recent book, Human: Solving the Global Workforce Crisis in Healthcare, published by Oxford University Press. It will identify the forthcoming healthcare workforce shortage as a critical international problem with outsized effects on citizens and societies. It will also offer key policy and practice solutions based on innovation, collaboration and more nuanced engagement between humans and technology.

Mark Britnell is one of the foremost global experts on healthcare systems. He has worked in 81 countries and territories, gaining first-hand experience of the challenges faced by organizations at local, regional, national and global levels. Among many senior operational and governmental roles, he served as CEO of University Hospitals in Birmingham, ran the NHS region from Oxford to the Isle of Wight, and sat on the NHS Management Board as a Director-General at the Department of Health. He was KPMG International’s Global Head of Health between 2009 and 2020. He is a member of the Global Agenda Council on the Future of the Health Sector at the World Economic Forum and the author of two books, 'Human' and 2015’s ‘In Search of the Perfect Health System’. He is a prostate cancer survivor and has donated all royalties from his books to Prostate Cancer UK.
