Tell us a bit about yourself

I am an Egyptian finance professional currently based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where I work as a Treasury Manager at the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), a member of the Islamic Development Bank Group. My role involves managing investments, funding, liquidity, and financial market activities across multiple jurisdictions and counterparties. Over the years, I have developed a strong foundation in treasury and capital markets, and I joined the Warwick Executive MBA to broaden my strategic leadership capabilities and prepare for larger leadership responsibilities in the future.

What first attracted you to Warwick Business School?

Warwick's global reputation, strong rankings, and practical approach to management education initially caught my attention. I was particularly attracted by the diversity of the cohort and the international perspective of the programme. Coming from a multinational development finance institution, I wanted an MBA that would expose me to different industries, cultures, and leadership styles.

Why did you ultimately choose Warwick Business School for your MBA?

Warwick offered the ideal balance between academic rigor and practical application. The programme's flexibility allowed me to continue working full-time while studying, and the curriculum aligned perfectly with my goal of moving beyond technical finance expertise into broader strategic leadership. The global network and collaborative learning environment also played a major role in my decision.

What elements of the programme do you value the most and why?

The diversity of the cohort has been one of the most valuable aspects of the programme. Learning alongside professionals from different industries, countries, and functional backgrounds has challenged many of my assumptions and broadened my perspective. I have also appreciated the quality of the faculty and the way theoretical frameworks are connected to real-world business challenges.

What is it like studying for an MBA?

Studying for an MBA while working full-time is demanding, but it is also incredibly rewarding. The programme encourages you to immediately apply concepts and frameworks to your workplace, making the learning highly relevant. Every module provides insights that can be used in real business situations, which creates a continuous cycle of learning and application.

Tell us about the community at Warwick Business School

The Warwick community is one of the programme's greatest strengths. The support from classmates, faculty, and alumni creates an environment where everyone is invested in each other's success. Despite coming from different backgrounds, there is a genuine willingness to share experiences, challenge ideas, and help one another grow both professionally and personally.

What kind of support have you received from the careers team?

The careers resources have provided valuable insights into personal branding, leadership development, and long-term career planning. The support has helped me think more strategically about my professional growth and future opportunities beyond my current role.

Can you tell us about your career plans? What's next for you?

My goal is to continue progressing into senior leadership positions within treasury, capital markets, and financial strategy. In the longer term, I hope to take on executive responsibilities that combine financial expertise with organisational leadership and transformation. The Warwick MBA is helping me build the strategic mindset and leadership capabilities required for that journey.

What do you hope to get out of the programme? What have you actually got so far?

I joined the programme hoping to strengthen my strategic thinking, leadership skills, and global business perspective. So far, I have gained all of those and more. The programme has expanded the way I approach business challenges, improved my confidence as a leader, and connected me with an exceptional network of professionals from around the world.

How do you find the work/life balance?

Balancing a demanding career, MBA studies, and family life requires discipline and careful planning. As a husband, father, and full-time professional, time management has become essential. While there are challenging periods, the support of my family and the flexibility of the programme have made it achievable and worthwhile.

Do you have any advice for anyone currently thinking about studying for an MBA?

Be clear about why you are pursuing an MBA and what you want to achieve from it. The experience is demanding, but the value comes from fully engaging with the learning, your classmates, and the opportunities available. If you are willing to invest the time and effort, the personal and professional growth can be transformational.
