What to expect from the CareersPlus & Employer Relations team

24 January 2022

The spring term is an important time to attend employer events and learn more about your future career options. The CareersPlus and Employer Relations team continue to organise various events and advertise a range of opportunities to help you decide what is best for your future.

Placement Student Engagement Day: Thursday 10 February

The Placement Student Engagement Day will be a hybrid event this year, designed for UK and internationally based undergraduate students currently on an optional placement year. This exclusive event will take place at our London based campus, The Shard. Students based in the UK will be invited to attend in person and internationally based students will be invited to join online. On the day, students will have the chance to meet fellow placement year students, WBS academics and professional services staff; reflect on their placement journey so far and prepare for life after a work placement. Our Undergraduate Placements Team will be sharing the booking details with all eligible students within the first few weeks of January 2022.

WBS Virtual Employer Engagement Day: Wednesday 23 February

We are arranging another WBS Virtual Employer Engagement Day for the spring term. The Employer Engagement Day will enable current students to meet with employers virtually, who may still have opportunities available from summer 2022. The WBS Virtual Employer Engagement Day will allow students to engage with employers, learn insightful information about their companies and network with recruiters and alumni online. A range of different employers from a variety of sectors will be attending this event and promoting a diverse number of roles, from marketing through to HR, finance and other areas of business.

“The Employer Engagement Day was a great opportunity to network with students interested in our placement scheme, offering us the chance to give insights into the application process and life here at Mercedes AMG HPP through multiple different interactive sessions.” – Billy North, Formula 1 Financial Controller, Mercedes AMG HPP.

Kickstart Event: Monday 14 March

WBS Employer Relations and Warwick Kickstart are delighted to announce a face to face Employer Fair specifically for start-ups and venture capital firms to take place at The Shard. Places will be limited due to strict safety restrictions at The Shard, so keep an eye on the Employer Relations pages under the Careers section of my.wbs early next term on how to sign up for this event.

SME and start-up business opportunities

It is not too late if you have not secured a summer internship or graduate programme. The spring term brings lots of opportunities for small and medium-sized business job postings. If you missed any of the ‘Career in Series…’ current students are still able to watch the recordings here. In this series, you can hear from an alumni panel working in varying roles in each sector.

CareersPlus resources

CareersPlus offers a considerable number of resources to help students secure a range of employment opportunities. A few essential resources that will be helpful throughout spring term are career coaching appointments, online recordings, workshops and webinars. Careers Coaching appointments throughout spring term cover any career-related topics, including exploring your career options, reviewing your CV/applications, helping with interviews and assessment centres and much more.

A great resource that CareersPlus provides is online recordings of past virtual events, including:

  • Workshops and Professional Development
  • Insights from the WBS Community
  • Employer Events
  • Global Activities
  • Change Maker Events

If you haven’t completed the Career Management Module in the CareersPlus resources yet, this programme is perfect for students exploring a range of common Career Management topics. Finally, our Employer Relations team works with many Warwick Student Societies to host employer events and the Warwick Alumni Networks to host networking opportunities, so make sure you make the most of every opportunity to engage with these events.

If you are a current WBS student and would like further information on our careers events, you can book a 1-2-1 appointment with our Careers team by clicking here. Good luck, happy networking and most of all, enjoy the experiences that you encounter!
