Behavioural Finance

Explore key deviations from rationality that have been documented in behavioural science, and discuss how these deviations can affect the economy, particularly in central banks.

In this module, you will understand how deviations impact the economy and analyse their macroeconomic, macroprudential, and microprudential responsibilities. You will study the impact that deviations from rationality have on financial markets and market participants, consider and apply models that account for these deviations, and compare and contrast the differences between classical and behavioural finance.

Throughout the module, we will examine the evidence for the causes of irrational investor behaviour and explore ways to experimentally test for deviations from rationality.
